Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker has been snubbed from the list of the four Heisman Trophy finalists.

The announcement was made on Monday night during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown by Robert Griffin III.

Despite suffering an injury in the penultimate game of the season, Hooker was tremendous all year and was widely thought of to be deserving of a spot in New York City. However, that will not be the case.

The 2022 Heisman Finalists are as follows:

  • Southern California QB Caleb Williams
  • Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud
  • Texas Christian QB Max Duggan
  • Georgia QB Stetson Bennett
More from RTI: Hendon Hooker Named SEC Offensive Player Of The Year

Prior to that injury, Hooker had led Tennessee to five AP Top 25 wins including Alabama, LSU, and Florida.

“Hendon certainly deserves to be at that ceremony,” Tennessee HC Josh Heupel said about Hooker on Sunday. “He certainly is one of the best players in college football. The growth of our program is a direct correlation to what he’s done, what he’s invested, how he’s helped build the culture inside of our locker room. Dynamic playmaker that has played his best in the biggest moments. Fierce competitor that makes a ton of plays. I certainly hope that he has that opportunity.”

Hendon Hooker ended the year with 3,135 yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a QBR of 89.4 against SEC competition.

Here’s how Hooker stacks up against the four finalists:

  • Hendon Hooker: 3,135 yards, 430 rush yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 5 rushing touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 89.4 QBR

  • Caleb Williams: 4,075 yards, 372 rush yards, 37 passing touchdowns, 10 rushing touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 86.5 QBR

  • C.J. Stroud: 3,340 yards, 74 rushing yards, 37 passing touchdowns, 0 rushing touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 87.7 QBR

  • Max Duggan: 3,321 yards, 404 rushing yards, 30 passing touchdowns, 6 rushing touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 80.2 QBR

  • Stetson Bennett: 3,425 yards, 184 rushing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 7 rushing touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 86.3 QBR

  1. Wow,great job HH,forever gonna be a great QB.in nfl ,get paid and show out. Vfl

  2. My man had those numbers with 1.5 less games in season play. Are those numbers for the other qbs including their championship games? If so thats 2.5 less than some. #VFL

  3. That is a bunch of bullcrap.Hooker was nothing but amazing all year.Despite his injury in the last game he deserves that title more than anyone.

  4. Stats speak for themselves even after being in at least 1.5 less games vs the other candidates. I’m confused how he didn’t get a seat at the table.

  5. The Heisman has become a joke and a political, media driven souvenir. It became as much when the media gave it to Woodson over Manning. Now, Williams and Stroud both have better numbers having played 2.5 games more. Not saying HH should have won, but he’s in the conversation. For him not to be invited is a joke. Stetson does not belong.

  6. Having comparable numbers to the other QB’s with a higher QBR with the least amout of interceptions in less games and still gets left out is a JOKE. The Heisman has lost its legitimacy in my eyes. True bias against him and Tennessee. #VFL #Heismanisajoke #HH

  7. If he was at Alabama, he would be in. Go HH, you’re the man no matter what the WWE thinks. They don’t have good judgment!! Done the same crap to Peyton Manning GO VOLS!!

  8. Best QB ranking of any QB. As good as this year has been for Tennessee, making the best QB sit home is as much an insult as ranking Alabama ahead of TN, robbing them out of the Sugar Bowl. Talk about bias!

  9. So sad his stats stack up and are better than others! Thanks for being a Vol ! See you on Sunday’s

  10. Just because Georgia won sec Henson had stats lot better than steson b that committee is dumbass stupid as bIden crooks

  11. How can you be named SEC offensive player of the year (the biggest and best conference in the game) and not be atleast still invited to the Heisman ceremony….?

  12. It is a bunch of crap that Hooker was not invited to the Heisman awards he was leading all season and then bam he was excluded he couldn’t help getting a torn acl it’s ashamed he was punished because of the injury Tennessee as a whole is always snubbed because of who they are none of the sports people like them. The sports media is very biased towards Tennessee and it,s obvious and putting Alabama over them after Tennessee beat Alabama is a joke that proves they are biased That’s okay the Vols got a better than Alabama and Hooker got SEC Offensive Player of the year. The Georgia or Alabama QBs can’t claim that honor nor can the Georgia Coach claim the honor of SEC Coach of the year either that honor went to The Vols coach so in a way Tennessee still won.Good Luck Vols in the Orange Bowl.#VFL

  13. POLITICS. Just like Washington DC. Very sad that people in high positions are so dishonest after this young man Hendon Hooker worked so hard to succeed. What goes round always comes round. Just remember HH you were one of the very best. Thank You and God Bless!

  14. Think they are stupid
I had friends vote for Hendon Hooker
YES HE DOES DESERVE A TOTALLY TRUE SHOT at the heisman
    Apparently everyone hates Tennessee volunteers
Hey Hendon go show the pros what men that play for the. Vols are made out of
You will not be forgotten Hendon

  15. I tried not to believe that the national media was against U.T. football, but it couldn’t be any more truthful than what has happened in the last week. To disrespect Hendon Hooker by not even recognizing his accomplishments this year is a slap in the face. He
Deserves that recognition. To snub our Head Coach from the list for Coach of the year spleasreaks for itself. Ĺast but not least, for ESPN to let Nicķ Saban go on
the air and whine about not getting in the top four teams for the National Championship pretty much says it all.

  16. HH was the heartbeat of Tennessee football. It’s no surprise that he wasn’t invited though. History shows that the sports world hates Volnation! It showed when the committee tried their hardest to get Alabama in the playoffs. One last thing that really made Vol fans mad is after the Georgia game all we heard is how Tennessee was demolished by Georgia. Last time I checked we lost by 14. Not really a demolishing in my or other fans eyes.
