NBA Playoffs Outlook

Most of the favorites in the second-round series — Celtics, Warriors, and Nuggets — appear to have figured out their current foes and look ready to seal the deal soon. However, all hope isn’t lost just yet. Whether or not things continue the way they are now in today’s contests depends on some of the biggest names in basketball, including Booker and James Harden.

Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers, 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN) — Boston leads series 2-1

The Sixers stole Game 1 on the road in Boston and haven’t looked the same since then. When Joel Embiid returned in Game 2, fans and analysts thought the Celtics were in trouble. Now, it’s hard to see the Sixers winning another game, especially if the current version of James Harden continues to show up for Philadelphia.

If coach Doc Rivers can’t find a way to get Harden going, Philly will continue to struggle to keep up with the explosiveness of Boston’s offense. Fortunately for 76ers fans, Harden has shown the ability to get hot thanks to his performance in Game 1. Although Embiid is the MVP, the pressure is on Harden to bring his ‘A’ game going forward.

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns, 8 p.m. ET (TNT) — Denver leads series 2-1

Phoenix avoided a 3-0 series hole in Game 3 thanks to big games from Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, who scored 47 and 39 points, respectively. With Chris Paul out, the Suns will need every ounce of that production to stay competitive. Although they are both great scorers, it’s a big ask for them to continue to score the way they did in the last game for the rest of the series. Additionally, despite their big performances, they still barely escaped Denver.

Considering the next highest scorers outside of Durant and Booker chipped in seven points, the odds of keeping pace with the Nuggets’ offensive production can’t be high with that style of play.
