Tennessee softball won the Knoxville Regional and advanced to the Knoxville Super Regionals Sunday by knocking off Indiana 7-3

The Lady Vols continued their fantastic season by sweeping through the regional with wins over Northern Kentucky and Indiana twice.

Tennessee dominated Northern Kentucky in the opening game of the event with Payton Gottshall throwing a five inning no hitter while the Lady Vols run-ruled the Norse 12-0.

Karen Weekly’s team played through plenty of adversity in Saturday’s win over Indiana as a five-plus hour rain delay came after Indiana loaded the bases in the third inning. Ashley Rogers got out of the jam with a strikeout when play resumed and Tennessee went on to win 9-1.

Zaida Puni was the star of Tennessee’s second win over Indiana, homering twice as the Lady Vols earned a 7-3 victory.

With the win, Tennessee improves to 47-8 (19-5 SEC) and adds a regional title to its long list of accomplishments that include the SEC Regular Season and Tournament titles.

The Lady Vols now advance to the Knoxville Super Regional where they’ll host the winner of the Austin Regional for a best of three series at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. With a super regional win Tennessee would advance to the program’s eighth ever Women’s College World Series and its first since 2015.
