Tennessee Athletics posted its best finish in the fall LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup, as announced by UT Sports on Thursday morning.

The report states that Tennessee posted a fifth-place finish with 292.5 total points, which is good for the most points scored during the fall season in school history. The Vols only trail North Carolina, Stanford, Texas, and Notre Dame in the standings but do land as the top representative from the Southeastern Conference.

The Tennessee women led the way for UT as the department picked up 73.5 points for Women’s Cross Country, 64 points for Women’s Volleyball, 57 points for FBS Football, 50 points for Women’s Soccer, and 48 points for Men’s Cross Country.

Women’s Cross Country finished the season with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships while Volleyball fell to the future-National Champion Texas Longhorns in the Sweet 16. The Vols’ football team capped off the season with the No. 17 AP Poll record after a big win over Iowa in the Citrus Bowl, leading to 57 points by way of the football team. The Tennessee soccer team posted its 10th NCAA Round of 32 berth in program history but fell to Nebraska in the last minute of the game. And, lastly, the Men’s Cross Country team finished the season 26th in the country.

“One of our major priorities in Rise Glorious is competitive excellence, and this record finish for the fall further demonstrates we are climbing on an upward trajectory,” Tennessee Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White said in a statement from UT Sports. “We are building a championship culture in all 20 of our sports and securing the highest fall season point total ever is a testament to our talented student-athletes, coaches and staff. Let’s keep winning on Rocky Top!”

Tennessee is heading in the right direction as evidenced by their sixth-place finish in the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup standings in the fall of 2022. The Vols’ sixth-place finish last year was Tennessee’s highest-ever finish at the time.
