The college football world is raving about Josh Heupel’s Tennessee Volunteers.
After just two weeks of the season, Tennessee has already done several things to make headlines across the sport. The Vols began the season by splattering Chattanooga in Neyland Stadium by a score of 69-3. While it was against an FCS opponent, Tennessee decimated the Mocs as quarterback Nico Iamaeava had the Vols up 45-0 at halftime.
Tennessee then took that momentum and buried NC State in a Top 25 neutral site matchup from Charlotte. The Wolfpack represented the first true test of the season for Tennessee and while the Vols didn’t play their best possible game, even an effort including two turnovers can still turn into a 51-10 beatdown.
Tennessee’s 2-0 start to the year has the Vols moving up, too. Tennessee has risen from No. 15 to No. 7 in the rankings in just two weeks while the Vols’ playoff chances have increased by nearly 30 percent according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.
