Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel led off a big media day on Friday after the Vols wrapped up their first practice of the spring camp slate earlier in the morning.
Heupel spoke to the media for just over 15 minutes on Friday as he shared some jokes with the media and recapped his roster heading into the next few weeks. The Vols’ fifth-year coach spoke about some of Tennessee’s high-profile newcomers including OT David Sanders Jr. and QB George MacIntyre, what’s on Nico Iamaleava’s to-do list this spring, building toward the Orange & White game in April, and much more.
Rather than putting the veterans up on the first day of camp, Tennessee sends its freshmen to get them acclimated to speaking with the media early on. Following Heupel on Friday were quarterback George MacIntyre, tight end Jack Van Dorselaer, and defensive back Tre Poteat. Each newcomer talked about their first spring practice in Knoxville, their position coaches, getting used to the system, and more.
