Tennessee wore its Volunteer State tribute uniforms on one occasion this past season, during the season-opener against Chattanooga in Knoxville. The Vols won in a blowout, 69-3, scoring a total of nine touchdowns in the latest version of the Smokey Greys.
The alternate uniform had the state flag stripe on the helmet, the Great Smoky Mountain helmet graphic, a tri-star shoulder patch, a tri-star state logo on the pants, and a three-star design on the side of the pants. It was also the first home uniform in program history to have “Tennessee” across the chest.
