Tennessee basketball added to its 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday landing French shooting guard Clarence Massamba.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard spent last season playing for AS Monaco, a professional team in France. A 19-year old, Massamba played mostly on AC Monaco’s B team (U21) where he averaged 9.8 points on 45% shooting from the field and 34% shooting from three-point range. He added 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Before playing for AC Monaco last season, Massamba played two seasons at The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida. The shooting guard averaged 13 points and five rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season with the Lions. Massamba was an efficient scorer, shooting 53% from the field and 42% from three-point range. He has the reputation of a good defender, averaging 1.5 steals per game while helping the Lions win the state championship.

Massamba is a plus athlete with a solid track record of shooting the ball. His highlight tapes show a guard who can play in ball screens while also effectively getting out and running in transition.

More From RTI: Where Tennessee Basketball Signee Amaree Abram Ranks In The Transfer Portal

ESPN is the only recruiting website that has a profile for Massamba, ranking him as a three-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Massamba committed to Tennessee just a day after the Vols landed Louisiana Tech shooting guard Amaree Abram in the transfer portal. The duo help fill a major hole on Tennessee’s roster at shooting guard. After missing out on Virginia’s Isaac McKneely, Maryland’s Rodney Rice and Oklahoma’s Duke Miles in the transfer portal, the Vols needed to add multiple shooting guards to their class.

The French transfer doesn’t quite give them a proven shooting guard but he is another body at the position who will compete for playing time and provide depth at the very least.

Tennessee basketball now has just one scholarship to work with as they build its roster in the transfer portal. They’ve landed Abram, Maryland point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie as well as Vanderbilt power forward Jaylen Carey in the portal to date.

In the high school recruiting ranks, Rick Barnes and his staff also landed five-star prep wing Nate Ament alongside four-star wing Amari Evans, four-star center DeWayne Brown and three-star center DeWayne Brown.
