Tennessee baseball dropped its third straight weekend series with Auburn taking two out of three games against the Vols at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

It marked Tennessee’s fourth series loss in the last five weeks dating back to dropping both doubleheaders in its home series against Texas A&M in early April. The Vols have now lost three series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this season for the first time in Tony Vitello’s tenure.

Weather threw off the weekend from the jump with Tennessee ace Liam Doyle throwing just one inning on Friday night before the game went into a rain delay and was postponed until Saturday. After dropping game on on Saturday, game two went into extra innings but went into another delay and finished on Sunday.

Tennessee walked off Auburn in the 11th inning before falling to the Tigers in the seven-inning series finale. The inclement weather threw off Tennessee’s pitching plan for the weekend but the Vols’ biggest issue was their hitting. Tennessee scored one run in both losses and has now failed to exceed three runs in five of its last seven games.

So where does Tennessee land in the rankings after another series loss? Taking a look here.
