Tennessee made a nice splash on the recruiting trail last month with the addition of international combo guard Clarence Massamba.
The 6-foot-6, 190-pound French prospect committed to and signed with Tennessee on April 30, giving the Vols their fifth incoming non-portal player this offseason. Massamba will join the Tennessee roster alongside five-star PF Nate Ament, four-star shooting guard Amari Evans, four-star center DeWayne Brown, and three-star point guard Troy Henderson.
Massamba played two seasons at The Rock School in Gainesville, FL, before going back home to France. The future Vol played this past season with the AS Monaco U21 team, where he averaged 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
In his final regular season game with AS Monaco, Massamba dropped 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Though young and still developing, Massamba gives Tennessee some much-needed depth at the shooting guard position alongside Louisiana Tech transfer Amaree Abram and returner Bishop Boswell. Massamba is a good shooter and could give Tennessee some impactful minutes with his offense, but his wingspan and athleticism are things that Rick Barnes will want to see on the defensive end of the court and in transition to push his minutes. Massamba is a great young talent, but we’ll have to see how things translate in his freshman season in Knoxville.
Massamba shot 42% from the three-point line as a junior at The Rock School and was at 34% with AS Monaco this past season. He’s clearly got an outside shot to his game, but also has some finesse tools in getting to the basket.
Here are some more highlights of what Rick Barnes and Tennessee are bringing to Rocky Top:
