Three-star safety Luke Thompson committed to Tennessee football Saturday morning just a week after taking his official visit to Tennessee.
Thompson is a Franklin, Tennessee native who plays his prep football at Franklin High School. The 6-foot, 176-pound prospect helped lead the Admirals to a 6-6 record last season.
Thompson ranks as a three-star recruit and the No. 48 athlete in the 2026 recruiting cycle and the No. 19 player in the state of Tennessee according to 247sports. The Vols’ latest commit is unranked according to the 247sports composite rankings.

Tennessee football is the only power four team that’s offered Thompson a scholarship, extending the offer just other a week ago during his visit to Tennessee. The safety also boasts offer from Arkansas State, Connecticut, MTSU, Miami (Ohio) and others.
Thompson had previously taken a pair of visits to Tennessee, making the trek across the state to Knoxville for the UTEP game in November and for a spring practice in April.
The instate native is Tennessee’s 10th commit in its 2026 recruiting cycle and the second commitment that the Vols have landed this past week. Both recent commitments are three-star safeties with Thompson joining New Jersey native KJ McClain.
Tennessee’s 10-commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 30 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
