More From RTI: Instate Three-Star Recruit Commits To Tennessee Football
Brandon is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in 247’s 2026 rankings and has been committed to Josh Heupel’s program since August 2024. His presence on campus this weekend is massive as the cornerstone piece looks to help rally other talented players to Knoxville.
This is a big recruiting weekend on Rocky Top for Heupel and his staff. Not only are the Vols trying to land certain uncommitted players, but they’re also trying to flip some other SEC commits from the south.
Two of the players on campus this weekend include guys who could be receiving passes from Brandon down the road, with LSU WR commit Tristen Keys and Texas WR commit Chris Stewart.
Keys, 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, ranks as a five-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 3 player in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. The Mississippi native originally committed to Brian Kelly’s Tigers in March but is still exploring his options on the recruiting trail as he looks for his home next year as a freshman. Despite his commitment to LSU, Keys is a player that Tennessee has been targeting as a priority for quite some time now, as evidenced by his visit to Rocky Top this weekend.
Keys drew a comparison to Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in a 2024 evaluation from 247 Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins, who also called the 2026 prospect a “potential game-wrecker” due to his “dynamic route running, superior athleticism and a long-levered frame.”
The other player that Brandon will have a hand in trying to flip is Texas WR commit Chris Stewart. The six-foot receiver has been a longtime commit to the Longhorns, with that announcement coming almost a full year ago in June ’24, but Josh Heupel and his staff are still looking to make a run at the speedy prospect. Stewart is ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 32 receiver in the cycle, according to 247’s Composite Rankings.
Getting those players to campus is a great step in the right direction for Tennessee, but having Faizon Brandon there as well to recruit himself could be a difference-maker for the Vols this weekend. The 6-foot-3.5 quarterback is easily considered one of the best prospects in the nation and could prove himself to be the type of person and player that these other guys want to play with ini the future. Obviously, there’s an NIL element that’ll play into things, but elite receivers need elite quarterbacks as well. Brandon led Grimsley High School to the North Carolina 4A State Championship last fall and was named the 2024 Gatorade and MaxPreps Player of the Year in N.C.
