When Tennessee fans hear the name Charles Woodson, they’re drawn back to the infamous 1997 Heisman Trophy race in relation to VFL and Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.

That could be changing in the next handful of years, though.

Charles Woodson’s son, Charles Woodson Jr., appears to have caught the attention of the Tennessee football program. The talented 2027 safety is gaining attention on social media after posting a recruiting graphic sent to him from Tennessee.

The post, sent out on Sunday afternoon just before 4:00 p.m. ET, has nearly 350,000 views as of 10:00 a.m. ET on Monday morning.

The picture shows Woodson Jr. donning his No. 12 jersey on the doorstep of Shield-Watkins Field at Neyland Stadium.

Woodson Jr. ranks as a three-star prospect in 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, though the publication does list him as a four-star in its own list. The composite rankings have him as the No. 364 overall player, the No. 35 safety, and the No. 43 player from the state of Florida.

The 5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect currently plays for Lake Nona High School in Orlando, FL. According to 247’s Andrew Ivins, he’s been with the team’s varsity squad since his freshman season in 2023.

With Tennessee still doing its due diligence on the ’27 prospect, Woodson Jr. has collected 11 scholarship offers so far. Notable teams on that list include Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan, Ole Miss, Syracuse, and Texas A&M.

Delaware was the first program to offer a scholarship in January 2025, while Michigan is the most recent one, coming on June 4.

Woodson Jr. isn’t the only son of a football star that Tennessee is going after in the 2027 class, either. The Volunteers extended a scholarship offer to Cooper Witten, a five-star linebacker and the son of Jason Witten, in August 2024.

With the 2026 recruiting class starting to really heat up, Tennessee doesn’t have any 2027 commitments at this time of this publication. The Vols boast the No. 11 recruiting class in On3 Sports’ 2026 rankings with one five-star, four four-stars, and five three-stars, though those rankings can vary depending on the service. Tennessee’s ’26 class is headlined by quarterback Faizon Brandon and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, but the Vols are working hard to add more blue-chip prospects to the list over the summer. Tennessee recently held a massive recruiting event on campus this past weekend, bringing in some of the top talent around the country to get a feel for Josh Heupel, his staff, and the Vols’ program.

Update: Tennessee landed its first 2027 commitment on Monday afternoon. Read more about it here.
