Tennessee football’s critical recruiting stretch in June continues this weekend as the Vols prepare for another official visit weekend. The headliner this weekend is five-star running back Savion Hiter.
Hiter is one of Tennessee’s top recruiting targets on the board. The Mineral, Virginia native ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 17 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. Hiter also ranks as the No. 1 running back and the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
As a junior last season at Louisa County High School, Hiter ran for 1,698 yards and 26 touchdowns on 158 carries. Hiter was a two-way star for the Lions, recording 56 tackles, seven sacks and one interception on their way to posting a 9-3 record.

Tennessee has long been in pursuit of Hiter, hosting him on three unofficial visits to this point. Hiter visited Tennessee in November for its game against Kentucky before returning in both April and May. Hiter was in Knoxville for the 865 Live event last month.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back’s weekend visit to Tennessee is his fourth in as many weeks. Hiter visited Ohio State the final weekend of May, then Georgia and Michigan the last two weekends. The Wolverines are Tennessee’s biggest competition for the blue-chip recruit.
Tennessee football’s 2026 recruiting class currently contains 10 commitments but none are from running backs. The Vols don’t overly need running back help in the 2026 cycle after signing four-star Daune Morris and three-star Justin Baker in the 2025 cycle.
The Vols’ 10-commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 31 nationally and No. 7 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
