They say some things stick with you for life, and Jordan Beck’s Mike Honcho nickname might be one of those things.

With the Rockies up 2-1 against Washington in the eighth inning on Wednesday night, Beck smashed a solo home run to left field after sitting and waiting on a changeup. The longball was Beck’s ninth of the year and 12th of his career in 119 games over the last two seasons.

“Well, Mike Honcho’s hit two balls really hard tonight, has a double and now a homer, his ninth,” the Rockies’ television booth said on the call. “And it comes on a changeup. Little changeup speeds up the bat and, for Jordan Beck, the quality of contact, lot of it has to do with the leg kick and the fact that his barrel and his bat path stay flat.”

It’s good to see the former Volunteer take the ball out of the park, because it’s been a minute since he had previously. You’ve got to go back to May 17 to find his last home run, where he actually took two balls past the fence in a wild 14-12 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Beck’s solo shot on Wednesday night helped give some insurance for the Rockies in what would be a 3-1 victory for Colorado on the road in Washington.

The starting outfielder has been a one-man highlight show on the road lately. In the last few games, he’s recorded two outstanding web-gem catches in games against Atlanta and Washington.

Both plays came in left field as Beck showed off his range of athleticism in two different ways:
