Tennessee football has hosted a number of prospects committed to other schools in recent weeks as they look to flip blue-chip recruits. But the Vols are also on the other side of that coin, looking to hold on to a four-star commit who has visited other schools.
Four-star tight end commit Carson Sneed officially visited Tennessee this past weekend after taking visits to North Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida in recent months. After his visit to Tennessee, Sneed traveled to the Rivals Five-Star camp.
In a piece of potentially bad news for Tennessee, Sneed was wearing Florida gloves Tuesday while warming up at the event according to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman.

The Nashville native wearing Florida gloves at a recruiting event is not the end of the world and doesn’t signify that Sneed is going to flip to the Gators. But it also isn’t the best sign for Tennessee who hoped to Sneed would shutdown his recruitment after his weekend unofficial visit.

Sneed ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 265 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Donelson Christian standout also ranks as the No. 14 tight end and No. 8 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end’s older brother Dayton Sneed is a former walk-on receiver at Tennessee who entered the transfer portal this spring before ending up at North Carolina. Dayton combined to catch two passes for nine yards while playing in seven games during his two years in Knoxville.
While the older Sneed brother is now at North Carolina and the Tar Heels are working to flip Carson, it’s rival Florida who appears to be Tennessee’s biggest threat. Billy Napier’s Gators flipped a pair of Tennessee commits last cycle in four-star safety Lagonza “Shaedy” Hayward and three-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny.
Tennessee football’s 2026 recruiting class currently contains nine commitments and Sneed is the only tight end currently committed. However, the Vols landed a pair of four-star tight ends in the 2025 recruiting cycle including top 100 recruit DaSaahn Brame as well as Jack Van Dorselaer.
The Vols nine-commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 51 nationally and No. 10 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
