Out of the “dozens” of prospects competing at the Rivals Five-Star event at the Indianapolis Colts’ facility this past week, one of Tennessee’s top commits was among the most notable standout players.

The event, consisting of prospects from the 2026, 2027, and 2028 cycles, saw players compete in individual drills, one-on-one reps, and a 7-on-7 tournament to showcase their best skills.

On3 Sports’ Charles Power listed Tennessee wide receiver commit Tyreek King as the sixth-best player from the event in a recent rankings. Power had King as the highest-ranked wide receiver on his list, noting that the Tennessee commit made “the most big plays” from the receiver group throughout the event, despite being a late arrival to the camp.

“The Tennessee pledge was a touchdown waiting to happen throughout the afternoon,” Power wrote for On3. “King threatened every level of the field with his burst off the line, long speed, and elite change of direction. The Knoxville native has a ton of wiggle within his routes.”

After watching four years of the Josh Heupel offense in action, it’s clear to see just how important a shifty and speedy receiver is to what the offense wants to do. Power’s report on King shows an optimistic direction in those very areas.

“He showed excellent speed after the catch, taking a crossing route before weaving through the defense for an impressive touchdown,” Power continued on to write. “He later got open on a corner route during the final 7-on-7 game, tracking the ball over his shoulder while getting his feet down in bounds.”

More From RTI: Four-Star Receiver Includes Tennessee Football In His Top Four

King, a future product of Knoxville Catholic in Knoxville, TN, is ranked as a four-star prospect in On3’s Industry Rankings. The six-foot receiver is also listed as the No. 121 player in the nation, the No. 17 receiver in the class, and the No. 5 player from the state of Tennessee. King is listed as a four-star prospect in all major publications except for 247 Sports, with his highest ranking coming from Rivals as the No. 29 player in the country and the No. 1 receiver in the 2026 cycle.

King originally committed to Tennessee on Oct. 31, 2024, giving the Vols a high-level prospect to work with as they built their group. King also helps bolster a strong offensive class that also includes five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon and four/five-star offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda. King committed to Tennessee over a list of programs that included Alabama, Auburn, and Michigan.

In mid-May, King doubled down on his Tennessee commitment and shut down any future recruitment, much to the excitement of the Vols’ fanbase.

“Tennessee’s culture is something I want to be a part of,” King told On3’s Hayes Hawcett on May 12. “Best fit for me & knowing I’m for sure gonna develop, no place like the VOLS, BEEN HOME!!!”
