Three-star athlete Zay Anderson committed to Tennessee football Saturday over Cincinnati and Toledo. An East Tennessee native, Anderson plays his prep football at Greeneville High School just 71 miles from the University of Tennessee.
A three-star recruit, Anderson ranks as the No. 487 overall player and the No. 14 player in the state of Tennessee according to the 247sports composite rankings. Anderson also ranks as the No. 31 athlete in the 2026 recruiting class.
Anderson plays both receiver and defensive back at Greeneville, but it’s unclear what position Tennessee projects him to play when he makes it to campus. The three-star recruit caught 28 passes for 713 yards and 11 touchdowns while also intercepting four passes during his junior season. He helped the Green Devils to a 12-2 record and a trip to the 4A State Semifinals.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect is a three-sport star at Greeneville, also playing basketball and running track and field.
Anderson committed to Tennessee just one week after officially visiting the Vols. He previously unofficially visited Tennessee during spring practice in late March. Anderson also took official visits to Cincinnati and Toledo earlier this summer before committing to the Vols.
The local standout is Tennessee’s 12th commit in its 2026 recruiting class and just its third in the last two days. Tennessee holds commitments from receiver Tyreek King as well as defensive backs Luke Thompson and KJ McClain.
Tennessee’s 12-commit 2026 recruiting class now ranks No. 32 nationally and No. 9 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings. The Vols entered Friday with the No. 55 class nationally before picking up the trio of three-star recruits.
