VFL Christian Moore may have an early roadblock ahead.
The Angels’ second baseman exited Wednesday’s game in the sixth inning with a left thumb injury. Moore sustained the injury while diving for a ground ball that was hit sharply up the middle of the infield.
“The severity of the 23-year-old’s injury remains unknown, but if he ends up needing to miss any time, Kevin Newman would likely benefit from extra starts at the keystone,” CBS Sports/RotoWire reported late Wednesday night.

Prior to exiting the game, Moore drew two walks in his two plate appearances in the second and fourth innings.
According to Sporting News, it appears that Los Angeles has called up Triple-A infielder Chad Stevens in response.
“Sounds like Chad Stevens is getting the call. A lot of smiles and hugs as he left the field,” Jared Tims, an Angels minor league reporter, posted to X on Wednesday night at 10:50 p.m. ET.

Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for more updates on Christian Moore’s status.
Through his first 18 games in MLB, Moore is hitting .189 with 10 hits, three home runs, and eight RBIs. He’s also hit one triple with eight walks and 20 strikeouts. From a fielding perspective, the former Tennessee champion still has a perfect fielding percentage in 59 total chances. He’s also recorded 38 assists and has helped turn seven double plays.
Moore has provided some electric moments for the Halos as he gets his professional career up and running. The most memorable game came on June 24 against Boston, where he hit two home runs, including the walk-off two-run homer in the 10th inning. Moore became the first player in MLB history to record a game-tying home run, a game-winning home run, and all of his team’s RBIs in one game.
Moore recorded one hit in each of the Angels’ three games against Washington in their last series, but didn’t find one in the series opener against the Braves on Tuesday and only drew walks before exiting early in Wednesday’s game.
We should find out more information on Christian Moore’s injury and status in the very near future.
