Tennessee football’s five-star quarterback signee Faizon Brandon is officially on campus. One of the first commitments in the 2026 class for the Vols, Brandon never wavered on his pledge and ultimately signed on early signing day. As an early enrollee, he’s moving onto campus as he prepares for spring camp.
Brandon is one of the highest-rated recruits Tennessee has ever signed out of high school. 247 ranked him as not just a five-star, but the No. 2 overall player and quarterback in the 2026 class. He spent a portion of the cycle as the top recruit, as well, before slipping to second late.
“First of all, Faizon’s a great player,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said on early signing day. “We had an opportunity to watch him on the basketball court, extremely explosive, great touch, had great presence and bodies in motion. You see that on the football tape, obviously as well. He’s played at an elite level for a long time. His body continued to develop. He’s got a great mind. He’s extremely quick-minded.
“You combine all those factors, really excited about having him in the quarterback room and competing next fall. Anytime you’re able to get a quarterback that’s at that level and is made of the right things, he’s able to develop relationships with guys and help attract them. And he certainly did that in this recruiting class, really on both sides of the football.”

Now, Brandon is projected to be right in the middle of a quarterback battle as a true freshman. With Joey Aguilar on the way out and his fight for eligibility looking bleak, the current roster features Brandon and former four-star recruit George MacIntyre as he enters his redshirt-freshman year.
UT could also bring in a transfer to compete, but the top options are all off the board, and it’d likely be a lower-level signal caller willing to battle for the job.
This gives Brandon a decent chance to earn the QB1 title early in his career. Even if he doesn’t win the battle to start the year, he’d also be an option to come in if the winner of the battle were injured or underperformed.
