NFL free agency is underway with plenty of big names off the board and storylines to follow. However, former Tennessee football wide receiver Jauan Jennings remains unsigned and is one of the top names left.
On Friday morning, ESPN went through and named the best fit for each of the top remaining free agents in this class. This included Jennings, who was tagged with the Las Vegas Raiders as the team that would make the most sense.
If Jennings did sign with the Raiders, he’d join a team on which he’d likely be an instant starter on. He’d also be catching passes from the all but official first-overall pick, Fernandoza Mendoza. He is coming off a Heisman Trophy-winning campaign and steered Indiana to the national championship.
Also of note, Jennings would join a wide receiver room in Vegas that features former Vol Dont’e Thornton Jr. There was no overlap in Knoxville between Jennings and Thornton, though.

“They will be running a Shanahan-inspired offense under new coach Klint Kubiak, and while there’s less money than expected in the coffers after the Maxx Crosby trade was rescinded, Vegas can’t afford to scrimp on help for likely first overall pick Fernando Mendoza,” ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote. “The Raiders added receiver Jalen Nailor in free agency and have young wideouts such as Jack Bech, Dont’e Thornton Jr. and Tre Tucker in the mix. But Jennings would step in as a reliable, valuable target for Mendoza in the short term, with the Raiders likely to find their eventual WR1 in the years to come.”
Jennings played at Tennessee from 2015-19. In that time, he became a fan-favorite due to his production and clear passion. As a senior in 2019, despite a rough season with Jeremy Pruitt at the helm, Jennings totalled 969 yards and eight touchdowns through the air, along with a rushing score.
He would go on to be drafted in the seventh round by the 49ers. He carved out a role throughout his career in San Francisco, leading to his high-demand in free agency this cycle. Out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, there’s been a call from a number of Titans fans to bring him home, as well.
