Lady Vols basketball has added its final piece to its transfer portal class. On Wednesday morning, West Virginia transfer forward Riley Makalusky announced her commitment to join Tennessee, marking the 15th and final player to join the roster.
What are the Lady Vols getting in Makalusky, though? The top thing that stands out is her ability to hit from range. As a spot-up shooter, she connected at an extremely efficient rate. In an average of 13.9 minutes per outing with the Mountaineers, she averaged 4.4 points per game on 42% shooting from the field and 43.2% from three.
Makalusky also has the ability to finish inside, but her best offensive attribute is certainly her shooting. That should play well in Kim Caldwell’s system, though having an inside presence as one of the taller players on the team will need to be worked on.
On the season, Makalusky played in 38 games and started in one. During this time, she also posted 1.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists per outing. Her rebounding will also need to improve this season, though she showed she was capable of it in her limited time last season.
Prior to her time at West Virginia, Makalusky played two years at Butler. As a sophomore, she averaged 8.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, while scoring in double figures 13 times.
Now, Makalusky joins Stanford’s Harper Peterson, Georgia’s Zhen Craft, Texas A&M’s Fatmata Janneh and Texas’ Aaliyah Moore as forwards on the 2026-27 roster for Tennessee.
