Mercer two-way Braydon Kersey is officially visiting Tennessee baseball on Friday, GoVols247’s Ben McKee first reported and a source confirmed to RTI.

Kersey was a versatile piece to a Mercer team that was one of the biggest snubs in the NCAA Tournament this past season. The right-handed pitcher posted a 4.95 ERA while recording six saves in 20 innings pitched.

An Alpharetta native, Kersey pitched even more during his freshman season in 2025 when he posted a 3-4 record, 4.97 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 50.2 innings pitched.

When Kersey is not on the mound, he played in the infield for the Bears. Kersey slashed .325/.438/.684 while hitting 21 homers and 11 doubles and driving in 67 runs last season.

Kersey is the second player to visit Tennessee baseball out of the transfer portal after Samford outfielder Jake Souders visited Thursday. The Vols also have visits lined up with Northwestern State left-handed pitcher Brody Trosclair and Air Force second baseman Wyatt Hanonian.

Eleven Tennessee players have entered the transfer portal this offseason, including utility man Jay Abernathy, catcher Cash Williams, infielder Finley Bates, shortstop Ariel Antigua, infielder Ethan Moore, first baseman Evan Hankins, utility man Hunter High, utility man Chris Newstrom, outfielder Hutson Chance and right-handed pitcher Brayden Krenzel and right-handed pitcher Ari Bethea.

A number of key Vols have shared their intentions to return for next season including catcher Trent Grindlinger, right-handed pitcher Landon Mack and left-handed pitcher Cam Appenzeller.

After failing to make it out of the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019, Elander and his coaching staff enter a critical offseason. Tennessee will lose a number of players to the portal and will be aggressive adding more talent to its roster.
