Tennessee baseball has currently landed 10 commitments in its 2025 transfer class and is looking to add more with the MLB Draft less than a week away.
How strong is the Vols’ transfer class? It ranks No. 2 nationally according to 64Analytics behind only Mississippi State. The nation’s top seven transfer classes are all from the SEC with Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, Auburn and Kentucky coming in directly behind Tennessee. Arkansas (No. 9), Alabama (No. 10), Texas A&M (No. 15) and Ole Miss (No. 22) also boast top 25 transfer classes.
Tennessee holds commitments from five players in the top 50 and eight players in the top 250 of the 64Analytics rankings. Of the Vols’ 27 outgoing transfers, only one player ranks in the top 250 rankings. Only seven schools with top 25 transfer classes haven’t lost any top 250 players to the transfer portal.
More From RTI: Tennessee Pitcher Off To Fantastic Start In Cape Cod League
Of Tennessee’s transfer commits, Virginia outfielder Henry Ford is the No. 6 transfer in the country, Rice two-way Blaine Brown is the No. 18 transfer in the country, Rutgers RHP Landon Mack is the No. 24 transfer in the country, Kennesaw State RHP Bo Rhudy is the No. 37 transfer in the country and Virginia LHP Evan Blanco is the No. 44 transfer in the country.
The Vols also boast commitments from Bowling Green two-way DJ Newman, Bowling Green C/OF Garrett Wright, UNC Asheville RHP Clay Edmondson, ETSU RHP Brady Frederick and MIT RHP Mason Estrada.
A pitching overhaul has been the most notable part of Tennessee’s transfer portal movement to this point in the offseason. Tennessee lost 20 total pitchers to the portal and have added six pitchers only and two more two-way players. The Vols are also targeting a pair of bullpen arms in Southern Cal RHP Brodie Purcell and Duke LHP Mark Hindy.
Tennessee will still have to overcome the MLB Draft with a number of targets. Ford, Blanco, Newman, Edmondson and Estrada are all draft eligible with Ford, Edmondson and Estrada all being real draft risks.
