After just one season with Tennessee football, defensive lineman Josh Schell has entered the transfer portal and found his new home for his final season of eligibility. Schell has committed to Central Florida in the Big 12, according to a report from Andrew Cherico.
Schell joined the Vols this past April in the spring transfer portal window. He provided depth on the interior of the defensive line for Tennessee and was a special teams contributor.
On the season, Schell played defensive snaps in three games. That was against ETSU, UAB and New Mexico State. Over the course of 21 snaps, PFF gave him a grade of 50.6 on the season. He recorded one tackle on the year.
Prior to Tennessee, Schell played a trio of seasons at Grand Valley State. In 2024, he played in 13 games and finished with 35 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. He was also a pitcher for GVSU’s baseball team.

So far, Tennessee has picked up one defensive tackle commitment. From Penn State, Xavier Gilliam is set to join the Vols. UT is expected to continue to be active in the portal to bolster its defensive line, though.
