Tennessee football is coming off the signing of a top-five group in the 2026 class and is off to a strong start in the 2027 cycle. As Josh Heupel and the Vols look to add talent, they’ve made the cut on a handful of elite prospects as they narrow down their options.
Recently, Tennessee was named one of the six finalists for four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw. The Vols join Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Texas A&M and USC on his list.
According to 247 Composite, Upshaw is the No. 79 player in the country, No. 15 wide receiver and No. 10 player from the state of Georgia. He is from Leesburg, where he plays for Lee County.
Top100 receiver Jaden Upshaw, one of the elite pass catchers in the 2027 class, has narrowed his recruitment to 6 finalists.

More From RTI: Tennessee Football Reveals Which Class of 2026 Signees Are Already On Campus As Early Enrollees
“Confident wide receiver with a well-rounded game that should offer some inside-outside versatility,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Eats up cushion with his acceleration before attacking the football at all three levels as he gets large and doesn’t shy away from contact. Competitive once the prize is secured as he sheds tackle in tight quarters with his balance and power while using his vision to extend plays.By far one of the better perimeter blockers to emerge in recent cycles as he will latch onto defenders and look to drive them into the ground.”
Tennessee already holds four commitments in the 2027 class. This includes four-star tackle Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star linebacker JP Peace and three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. The class is still young, though, and plenty more commitments are expected to trickle in over the next year.
Tennessee is coming off an extremely strong 2026 class, as well. The Vols landed 29 commitments in the class, with 27 signed in the early signing period and two local prospects committing last week. This was headlined by a trio of five-star prospects, quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver TK Keys and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda. The group ranks fifth in the country on 247.
