Tennessee football is one of the five remaining schools in the hunt to land the commitment of a blue-chip cornerback in the 2027 class. On Friday, Raheem Floyd named the Vols, Texas, Florida, Missouri and Ole Miss as his final five, according to Rivals. This means that he’ll be committing to an SEC school if he stays true to his finalists.

Floyd is a four-star recruit and ranks as the No. 153 recruit in the country by 247. He is the No. 21 cornerback and No. 7 player from the state of Illinois. He is from East St. Louis, where he plays for East St. Louis High School.

Floyd stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds at this point in his recruitment. His primary recruiter at UT is likely new cornerbacks coach Derek Jones, who was hired to join Jim Knowles’ staff. He picked up his offer on Dec. 3, 2025, just before Tim Banks was fired as UT’s defensive coordinator, though.

Floyd’s recruitment really started to pick up buzz this past fall. He held notable offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kentucky, Michigan State and Florida State heading into the season, but picked up offers from UT, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa and Texas after the 2025 campaign began.

Currently, Tennessee holds seven commitments in the 2027 class. This features a trio of highly-touted four-stars. Headlining is in-state wide receiver, Kesean Bowman. He is a top-50 prospect and one of the top pass catchers in the class. In-state offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife are also highly ranked.

Three-stars in the class are quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, in-state legacy linebacker JP Peace and defensive back Carter Jamison. Currently, this group is ranked inside the top-25 on both 247 and Rivals for the 2027 cycle.
