Tennessee football has its eyes set on one of the top running backs in the country for the 2027 cycle. An in-state target, the Vols are making a strong push to land the talents of five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.

However, UT has competition in the race for his talents. The primary program also looking to land Gabriel Georges is Ohio State. In the Buckeyes’ push, they just hosted him for his official visit.

“They really want me to be a Buckeye,” Gabriel Georges said in a report from Hayes Fawcett. “They not only want to develop me as a football player, but as a man.”

Gabriel Georges will take his official visit to Tennessee this weekend, beginning on June 5. He’s also scheduled to see Ole Miss on June 12 and Georgia on June 19, with a commitment date locked in for July 22, 2026.

According to 247 Composite, he is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.

“Hard-driving running back with the quickness and power to emerge as the centerpiece of an offense for a College Football Playoff contender,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Already owns ready-to-play bulk as he tips the scales at just over 205 pounds and uses that weight to his advantage as he sheds tackles and bounces off contact. Quick out the chute with his acceleration as he picks a lane and motors forwards. Reads blocks well, but can change course in the snap of a finger and get out of trouble…”

Currently, Tennessee’s class of 2027 commitment list ranks just outside the top-30 on both 247 and Rivals. However, the Vols have laid a strong foundation to build on and are in good standing with a number of highly-rated recruits.
