Tennessee football just landed its priority recruiting target for the class of 2027. On Wednesday evening, the Vols reeled in five-star running back David Gabriel Georges from Baylor School in Chattanooga.
While plenty of factors outside of money went into Gabriel Georges’ decision to pick Tennessee over Ohio State and Ole Miss, the financial benefits certainly play a role in this era of college sports. For Gabriel Georges, he commanded what Hayes Fawcett reports will make him the highest-paid running back recruit ever.
In Fawcett’s report, he detailed what made Gabriel Georges’ deal so lucrative. It is a three-year deal for around $2 million per year. It also includes family travel benefits to attend games, which is a big deal with his family coming from Quebec, Canada.

According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.
This now teams up Gabriel Georges with a trio of former Baylor School standouts, as well. Currently on the roster are redshirt-freshman wide receiver Joakim Dodson, freshman offensive lineman Gabe Osenda and freshman defensive back Jamyan Theodore.
As a result of adding Gabriel Georges’ commitment, Tennessee shot up recruiting boards, as well. As the 18th commitment of the cycle, the Vols now rank as the No. 24 class in the nation and No. 10 in the SEC on both 247 and Rivals. There’s still work to be done, as well, with the presence of Gabriel Georges potentially leading to more additions.
