Tennessee Football landed a commitment from elite five-star running back David Gabriel Georges on Wednesday night, closing down one of the fiercest recruiting battles in the entire 2027 recruiting class. The Vols beat out Ohio State and Ole Miss for Gabriel Georges’ verbal pledge, and jumped up into Rivals’ Top 25 team rankings after the announcement.
Following Gabriel Georges’ commitment to the Vols, the five-star running back released a lengthy statement on social media to close down his recruitment chapter. He wrote about his gratitude for those closest to him in providing a strong guiding voice along the way, and also condemned the online harassment that he received during the process.

“First and foremost, I give all glory to God for his countless blessings and for faithfully guiding me throughout this journey. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I also want to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends, coaches, teammates, mentors, and everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way. Your belief in me, your guidance, and your unwavering support have meant more than words can express, and I will always be grateful.
I also feel it is important to address something. What should have been one of the most meaningful and joyful moment of my life has, at times, been overshadowed by negative media coverage, false narratives, and unfair assumptions about both my character and my family. I understand the passion, excitement, and pride that college football inspires, and I have great respect for every fan base and every program involved in this process. However, any form of harassment, and the spread of misinformation is simply unnecessary and uncalled for.
This decision was mine and was made through careful thought, prayer, and countless conversations with those I trust most. I respectfully ask that my decision be honored and that people refrain from making assumptions or spreading false information.
As I move forward, my focus remains on finishing the school year strong, continuing to grow as a student, a football player, and most importantly as a person. I am incredibly excited for the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to embracing every challenge with humility, gratitude, and a relentless commitment to becoming the best version of myself.
To everyone who has stood by me throughout this journey, thank you. Your encouragement has meant the world to me. I can’t wait to begin this next chapter, represent my new program with pride, and continue chasing my dreams. The future is bright, and I am excited for everything that is still to come.

According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.
This now teams up Gabriel Georges with a trio of former Baylor School standouts, as well. Currently on the roster are redshirt-freshman wide receiver Joakim Dodson, freshman offensive lineman Gabe Osenda and freshman defensive back Jamyan Theodore.
Gabriel Georges took official visits to his three finalists, but also had Georgia in the mix down the stretch. However, he cancelled his trip to see the Bulldogs to narrow it down to the trio. For the majority of his recruitment, it was believed to be a two-school race, though, between Ohio State and Tennessee. Many experts even had predictions logged for the Buckeyes to land his commitment, but five insiders flipped to UT just ahead of his announcement.
Gabriel Georges is coming off a junior season at Baylor School in which MaxPreps Player of the Year and for the second time, Tennessee Mr. Football. He produced 1,749 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns last season, as well.
“Hard-driving running back with the quickness and power to emerge as the centerpiece of an offense for a College Football Playoff contender,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Already owns ready-to-play bulk as he tips the scales at just over 205 pounds and uses that weight to his advantage as he sheds tackles and bounces off contact. Quick out the chute with his acceleration as he picks a lane and motors forwards. Reads blocks well, but can change course in the snap of a finger and get out of trouble. Durable enough to handle extensive inside work, but can generate plenty of explosive plays with his burst as he’s quick to step on the pedal when he finds a crease…”
