Missouri receiver Dominic Lovett announced his plans to enter the transfer portal Monday once the regular season was in the rearview mirror.
Lovett had a breakout sophomore season at Missouri where he caught 56 passes for 846 yards and three touchdowns. The East St. Louis native posted the third most receiving yards in the SEC with below average quarterback play from Brady Cook.
So could Tennessee pursue Lovett in the transfer portal?
According to a report from 247sports’ Chris Hummer, Tennessee along with LSU and Oklahoma are early suitors the star receiver.
The Vols lose starting receiver Cedric Tillman to the NFL and junior Jalin Hyatt may not be far behind him. Reserve receivers Jimmy Holiday and Jimmy Calloway each announced plans to enter the transfer portal Wednesday.

With three-plus Tennessee receivers leaving the program, the Vols have a need to add receivers in the portal. Tennessee isn’t desperate for receiver help and is set to return strong contributors Bru McCoy, Ramel Keyton and Squirrel White.
Josh Heupel has produced two 1,000 yard receivers in his two season at Tennessee making the Vols an extremely attractive option for receivers in the transfer portal.
Lovett is poised to be one of the top receivers in the portal after his breakout sophomore season. The 5-foot-10 receiver primarily played in the slot last season for Missouri. White will likely be Tennessee’s starting slot receiver next year after a strong freshman season which could make Lovett an interesting fit in Knoxville. However, the Missouri receiver is capable of playing the other two receiver spots besides slot.
Tennessee limited Lovett to just 46 yards inside Neyland Stadium this season but the Missouri receiver tallied one of his three touchdowns in the loss.
Lovett eclipsed 100 yards four times last season including three times in SEC play. The Illinois’ native’s top performance was a 10 catch, 148 yard performance against South Carolina.
