Five Impressive Summer Enrollees

Dewayne Hendrix (No. 8) warms up before practice.

The Vols welcomed 18 scholarship summer enrollees to campus during the last few months and several of them have impressed through five camp practices. This list is by no means exhaustive, but points out the five non-spring enrollees who have impressed us the most thus far.

 Dewayne Hendrix

It’s exceedingly tough for a true freshman along the defensive front to make a big impact during his freshman year, but Hendrix certainly has the tools to help the Vols. Listed at 6-4, 275 pounds, his blend of strength and agility has been praised by the coaching staff. He’s still really raw, as you’d expect, but he’ll see more and more time on the field as he continues to refine his game.

Quotable: I think [Derek] Barnett and [Dewayne] Hendrix have jumped out. They’re showing, I think, that they’re mature enough and physical enough at this point to see where they end up on the depth chart.” – Vol defensive line coach Steve Stripling
