Ranking Tennessee’s 2014 Performances

Joshua Dobbs-1-23. Vols dominate Kentucky to win the battle of teams looking for bowl eligibility

In a battle of improving teams looking for bowl eligibility, Tennessee completely waxed Kentucky in Neyland Stadium by a final of 50-16 in a game where the Vols could seemingly do no wrong. Tennessee jumped out to a commanding 30-3 lead before letting off the gas just a little. Joshua Dobbs hit nine different receivers for 297 yards and three touchdowns while adding 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Jalen Hurd was also spectacular – piling up 128 yards of total offense and adding a touchdown as well. Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles, a player many considered to be one of the rising stars in the conference, was limited all night by Tennessee’s swarming defense. Simply put, the Wildcats couldn’t get anything going on both sides of the ball. This win gave the young Vols a lot of confidence and put them just one win away from bowl eligibility as well.
