2016 backup: Alvin Kamara (RS Jr.)
Who has the edge: Neal was a serviceable SEC back who went on to have some professional opportunities. Kamara, however, is a special player and one of the best “backup” running backs UT has ever seen. UT doesn’t truly view him as a reserve – the Vols hope to use him like a starter in various ways – but from an official depth chart standpoint, that’s how you’d classify him. This spot is a great example of the depth and talent Jones has built in the past few years. Clear edge to the 2016 backups here.
