Secondary

Malik Foreman-1

It was a mixed performance for a secondary that was also shorthanded, as the Vols played without Cam Sutton (injury) and Justin Martin (suspension). Bob Shoop moved Malik Foreman from nickel to outside cornerback, and he had an extreme high and low at the end of the game. First, he made an interception that looked to give UT the game late in the fourth quarter. But when Georgia got one more last-minute drive, Foreman let Riley Ridley slip behind him for a catch that very well could’ve cost UT the game. Outside of that play, and losing Nauta a couple times, this group was decent under the circumstances. Micah Abernathy, Todd Kelly Jr. and Rashaan Gaulden combined for 27 tackles, several of which kept big Georgia runs from turning into massive plays.
