Defensive Line
The Vols managed to sack Nebraska’s quarterback four times during the game, and all four came from the defensive linemen. LaTroy Lewis led the team in tackles with seven along with his sack, Corey Vereen picked up an early sack, Jonathan Kongbo was consistently getting good push up front and got a sack, and Derek Barnett got his 33rd career sack late in the fourth quarter and was pressuring the quarterback all afternoon. Barnett’s sack and performance will get all the attention thanks to its record-breaking nature, but the whole defensive line played exceptionally well all game long.
