Tennessee’s new coaching staff has done a good job of identifying under the radar prospects in the 2018 class. And it appears they’ve done it again with Trevon Flowers.

Flowers is a unique prospect in that he was slated to play baseball for Kentucky as a commit in their baseball class. But he played both football and baseball in high school, and football continued to interest him more and more. And now he’s getting a lot of attention in the closing days of the 2018 cycle.

The Vols were the first Power Five school to get in on Flowers aside from Kentucky, but the Wildcats haven’t even offered him a scholarship in football yet. Tennessee sent an offer to him on January 15th, the same day that Appalachian State did. The Vols had been trying ever since to get him to visit, and he finally is this weekend.

But the Vols aren’t the only big time team interested in him.

Flowers visited Clemson last weekend and picked up an offer from them shortly after. Now it appears the Tigers might be the team to beat for Flowers even though the Vols “discovered” him first in football.

Flowers is rated as just a three-star prospect by 247Sports, but he wasn’t even rated at all until recently. He’s an athletic safety out of Tucker, Georgia who measures in at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds.

  1. Im tired of chasing these kids around allowing their heads to blow up like balloons. Year in and year out, UT has top recruiting classes. And that doesnt and has not translated into much. These kids have a good year or two and jump for the NFL money. I would rather have 3star talent with young men who want to earn a degree than these 5star kids with over inflated egos.
