Tennessee didn’t have to do a whole lot of expert coaching to win this one, but I still like what I saw from UT’s coaches. They got to play a lot of players like they wanted, and they didn’t go too conservative like we all saw the previous staff do in games like this. I liked what Tyson Helton did on offense to show more deep passes and some creativity to give Florida more things to prepare for, and there were several different fronts on defense I liked. Tennessee was varied in their approach, sometimes placing just two down linemen with two flankers on the edge while placing five players at the line on another series.

We continue to see this coaching staff make adjustments, something the former coaching staff failed to do. Last week, the weather delay bit Tennessee in the butt. This week, whatever Jeremy Pruitt told his team during the delay, it worked. The Vols responded well to the coaching staff’s message during the delay, leading to a blowout win. I was also impressed with Tyson Helton’s adjustment on the goal line. After struggling to punch the ball in last week, Helton utilized Jeremy Banks’ toughness to punch it in against ETSU. In the secondary, you didn’t see near as many coverage busts, as the defensive backs took a step in the right direction.
