Final Thoughts from Tennessee’s Loss to Georgia

Fullbacks

The most noticeable difference on offense this week was the use (or lack thereof) of the fullback. It was almost nonexistent. Tennessee used a fullback just three times against Georgia. Austin Pope saw at least 13 snaps at fullback against East Tennessee State, UTEP, and Florida. Against Georgia, Pope saw just one snap, where he was targeted on 3rd -and-one, but the pass fell incomplete.

Pope has had nice blocks at times this season but has really struggled as a lead blocker out of the backfield. Add on his fumble at the goal line against Florida, and that’s why he didn’t see the field against Georgia.

Snaps at fullback:

Austin Pope: 1

Madre London: 1 (received the ball on a fullback dive on 3rd-and-1 and was stuffed)

Eli Wolf: 1
