Nathanael: B+

I thought the adjustments to Kentucky’s rushing attack were a little slow and maybe could’ve been implemented more in the first half, but give credit where credit is due; Tennessee’s coaches made excellent halftime adjustments, especially defensively. The Vols’ defense played much better in the second half, and that was largely due to scheme and personnel shifts dictated by the coaches. Offensively, Jim Chaney called a good first half, but the execution was lacking. The decision by Pruitt to turn to Guarantano in the second half was initially met with criticism, but it absolutely turned out to be the right call. That sparked the offense to two touchdowns in the third quarter and helped UT win the game.

Once again, Jeremy Pruitt and his coaching staff out-coached the opposing coaching staff. The game plan offensively was good early on, but it wasn’t executed all that well. Pruitt made the tough decision to go with Guarantano to start the second half when many thought it was a terrible decision, and it resulted in Tennessee winning the football game. Defensively, the Vols were gashed in the first half. Pruitt and Derrick Ansley made terrific halftime adjustments and were able to slow down Bowden in the second half.
