Any time you run for nearly 300 yards and hold the opponent to under 300 yards of total offense as a team, you should win the game by at least a couple touchdowns, and that’s just what Tennessee did. The Vols desperately needed to beat Vanderbilt and put an end to the embarrassing three-game losing streak to the Commodores, and they did that despite a terrible start to the game and less than ideal weather. The victory completed the Vols’ improbable turnaround from a 1-4 start to a 7-5 overall record.

It didn’t matter if it was by 100 points, or one point, Tennessee had to snap its three-game losing streak to Vanderbilt, and it did. It wasn’t pretty at times due to the weather, but the Vols dominated the Commodores. Tennessee’s football program and Jeremy Pruitt have done a good job of getting back in the good graces of Vol fans, and a loss to Vandy would have washed it all away. But that didn’t happen and Tennessee has now won five in a row as it likely heads to a Florida bowl game.
