Tennessee football has achieved an attendance milestone that hasn’t been seen since the 2006 season in Knoxville.

The Vols’ home opener against Austin Peay was announced on Saturday as an official sellout (101,915). Tennessee’s ongoing streak of seven straight sellout games in Neyland Stadium is the first time that has been done since the Vols’ season in 2006.

Tennessee’s streak started during the second home game of the 2022 season against Akron in Knoxville. The Vols didn’t sell out the 2022 season-opening game due to it being played on a Thursday night but sold out the rest of the season after that. Tennessee’s streak carried into the first home game of 2023 against Austin Peay on Saturday evening.

The streak will likely also continue throughout this season as several Tennessee home games have been announced as sellouts for months now.

Following the off-season renovations during the summer of 2022, Tennessee had to remove seats from Neyland Stadium as the total capacity decreased from 102,455 to 101,915. In that space, though, Tennessee added a new jumbotron in the northern portion of the stands along with a walk-around party deck next to it.

No. 9 Tennessee leads Austin Peay by a score of 13-6 at halftime in Knoxville at the time of this publication.
