It won’t be much longer before Tennessee has a good understanding of its NCAA Tournament path.

After a 2-1 showing in the SEC Tournament this past week in Hoover, Tennessee made good strides in potentially securing a Top 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament around the country next weekend. The 8-seed Vols defeated 9-seed Alabama 15-10 in the second round and 1-seed Texas 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Tennessee’s run ended in a tough blowout against Vanderbilt in the semifinals, 10-0.

We’ll find out whether Tennessee will host a regional series in Knoxville on Sunday night. The NCAA Baseball account on X will begin revealing the Top 16 seeds and the corresponding host sites on Sunday, May 25, at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The full tournament bracket will be revealed on Monday, May 26, at Noon ET. The selection show will be broadcast on ESPN2/ESPNU as the remainder of the teams and mini-tournaments are filled in.

More From RTI: Everything Tony Vitello Said After Vanderbilt Bounced Tennessee in SEC Tournament

According to the projections, Tennessee appears to be in a good position as of this publication, just about five hours before the Top 16 teams are revealed. D1 Baseball and Baseball America, two respected sites in the college baseball world, both have Tennessee as a Top 16 host team at No. 14 and No. 13, respectively.

A Knoxville Regional would be ideal for Tony Vitello’s squad as the Vols look to defend their 2024 National Championship. Vitello’s teams have hosted a Knoxville Regional on three occasions during his time in Knoxville, going a perfect 9-0 to advance to Super Regionals in that span.

Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider on Sunday and Monday for coverage of Tennessee’s path to Omaha in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
