With two commitments in two days for the position group, Tennessee football has now added six commitments from players who project to play in the secondary.

On Wednesday evening, safety Jowell Combay joined out of Marietta, Georgia. He plays at Kell High School alongside another Vols commit in four-star linebacker and top-100 prospect Brayden Rouse. According to 247 composite rankings, Combay ranks as the No. 71 player in Georgia, No. 49 safety and No. 635 recruit in the country.

This comes a day after the Vols added in-state athlete Javonte Smith to the fold. He is a standout on both sides of the ball and as a returner in Jackson, Tennessee, but is projected to play cornerback with the Vols. 247 composite rankings have him ranked as the No. 964 recruit in the nation, No. 80 cornerback and No. 37 player in the state.

To begin the month, Tennessee added three-star in-state cornerback Jamyan Theodore. At the end of June, in-state corner Zaydyn Anderson pledged his commitment as another three-star. Earlier in June, three-star safeties Luke Thompson and KJ McClain committed, as well.
