The 10 Recruits the Vols Must Make a Priority

2. Alontae Taylor, ATH

Four-star, in-state athlete Alontae Taylor was once committed to Tennessee and considered one of the bigger “locks” in the Vols’ 2018 class. But the day Tennessee parted ways with Butch Jones changed things for Taylor, and he decommitted.

Fast forward another month, and the Vols’ new coaching staff has already made up a lot of ground with Taylor. And it’s looking like Tennessee may be able to get him back into the fold.

Taylor is expected to sign during the early signing period, so the clock is ticking on being able to land him. He’s the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee and is a top 150 overall player in the country. He’s expected to be deciding between Tennessee and Georgia and projects to play receiver in college.

Taylor was the best athlete on his team at Coffee County, so he played quarterback more than receiver. According to Max Preps, Taylor amassed 6,000 rushing yards in his high school career on 704 attempts, scoring 74 times on the ground. He also threw for 1,746 yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
