Class of 2024 linebacker Jordan Burns committed to Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon according to a report from On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound defensive player from Pace Academy in Atlanta, GA chose the Vols over Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

Rivals has Burns with a four-star ranking while 247Sports and On3 have him with a three-star ranking. The composite rankings from the latter two have Burns as a four-star, though.

According to 247 Composite, Burns is a Top 400 player, the No. 34 linebacker in the class, and the No. 47 player from the state of Georgia. Burns collected more than 20 offers throughout his recruitment including programs such as Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Auburn.

Burns’ commitment to Tennessee comes just days after an official visit to the Vols’ program in Knoxville during a massive recruiting weekend. Burns was also on campus in late May for the Vols’ 865Live recruiting event. A trip to Arkansas and a trip to Vanderbilt were sandwiched in between those two Tennessee visits.

Burns has a ceiling as high as his motor on the field. The linebacker prospect can play in the middle of the field but also has a knack for attacking the quarterback from the edge. Burns plays with relentless energy on the field and will one day give Tennessee a needed spark on special teams or the defensive side of the ball.

Burns also played some running back during his junior season at Pace Academy.

Jordan Burns marks the 13th commitment for Josh Heupel and Tennessee’s class of 2024 list. Burns is Tennessee’s eighth four-star commit, the first linebacker in the recruiting class, and the third player from the state of Georgia. Burns joins four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger and three-star defensive lineman Jeremias Heard as the Peach State prospects that are heading to Knoxville.

Burns is the second commitment that Tennessee has landed in the previous three days. The Vols received a commitment from four-star in-state athlete/defensive back Boo Carter from the Chattanooga area on Saturday night to give the Vols an important piece to the 2024 puzzle.

Tennessee’s 13 recruits put the Vols at No. 14 nationally/No. 6 SEC in On3’s 2024 team rankings and at No. 10 nationally/No. 4 SEC in 247 Sports’ most recent rankings.
