Tennessee defensive line target Darryl Rivers will announce his collegiate destination on Friday, July 4th, according to a report from On3 Sports’ Paul Jones on Wednesday.
Josh Heupel and the Volunteers are squarely in the race for the Georgia native. Rivers has taken four official visits over the last month, visiting Rutgers on May 30, Georgia Tech on June 6, Mississippi State on June 13, and Tennessee on June 20.
He also has a few predictions that land in the Volunteers’ direction.
Last Saturday, Mississippi State insider Steve Robertson tagged a “high” confidence level prediction towards Tennessee. Additionally, Rivers also has Tennessee predictions from On3 Sports VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, which have both come in the last handful of days.
Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Tennessee a 95.6% chance in the race to land the 6-foot-5, 270-pound lineman.

Rivers is a three-star prospect from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, GA, in the class of 2026.
247Sports’ Composite Rankings have him listed as the No. 630 player overall, the No. 71 defensive lineman in the class, and the No. 70 player from the state of Georgia.
If he does commit to Tennessee on Friday, it would continue a massive defensive week on the recruiting trail for defensive coordinator Tim Banks and his staff. Rivers would make for Tennessee’s fourth defensive commitment this week, alongside four-star LB TJ White, four-star DL Dereon Albert, and three-star cornerback Jamyan Theodore.
Tennessee currently has 16 commitments in its 2026 class, which ranks 14th in the nation and 6th in the SEC, according to 247’s team rankings.
