2. Stoops Talking Smack About the SEC
Remember when Bob Stoops was talking all that smack about the SEC shortly before the start of last season? He was asked what he thought of the widening gap between the SEC and the rest of college football, and he wasted no words:
“Well it depends on what gap you’re talking about. What are the bottom six doing?…They’ve had the best team in college football. They haven’t had the whole conference, because, again, half of ’em haven’t done much at all.”
But wait, there’s more. “You’re listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you…Again, you can look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are… What’d (the Big 12) have (in 2013)? Eight of 10 teams in a bowl game this year? Again, you figure it all out.”
I figured it all out. Stoops thinks the Big 12 is a better conference top-to-bottom than the SEC. Now, one must tread lightly here, because he sure put his money where his mouth was in the Sugar Bowl dismantling of Alabama. But for the (perennial underachieving?) Oklahoma coach to say that the Big 12 is better than the SEC?
Enough for me to root against Oklahoma.
