Jarrett Guarantano was lights out in the first half for the Vols. He didn’t do quite as much in the second half, but he was still accurate and overall had one of the best games of his career. Guarantano completed 60 percent of his passes, finished three yards shy of 200 passing yards, had a spectacular Hail Mary touchdown while tossing another one to Dominick Wood-Anderson, and actually showed some better pocket awareness too. There were a few throws he was inaccurate on, and he still needs to work on better ball placement at times, but it’s clear he’s grown a lot as a QB this season.

The stats aren’t gaudy, but Jarrett Guarantano played excellent football against Kentucky. Throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns, Guarantano made good decision after good decision. He also didn’t turn the football over and broke a school record in the process of doing so. Guarantano has not throw an interception in 146 pass attempts, surpassing Casey Clausen’s record of 143 attempts that he set in 2003. The redshirt sophomore continues to play winning football on Saturdays.
