Aside from a couple bad busts and actually decent passes by Terry Wilson, I thought the secondary played pretty well on Saturday. Marquill Osborne was the star of the show, picking off two passes (though his lateral on his last one was a very dumb decision). Micah Abernathy returned from injury and was very good in run coverage, and Nigel Warrior made a few good plays as well. There were a few times where Baylen Buchanan had some bad plays in the secondary, but Bryce Thompson impressed and had three pass breakups. This unit will have to play better against Missouri next weekend, though.

Tennessee’s secondary was up-and-down against Kentucky. They were at their best in run-support, as Micah Abernathy returned from injury and recorded seven tackles. Nigel Warrior added four tackles and a QB hurry. In coverage, Wilson was able to throw for 172 yards and a touchdown on 21-of-34 passing. He did throw an interception to Marquill Osborne — which clinched the game — but he didn’t look as bad of a passer as he has at times this season. That’s in large part because a lot of his receivers were wide open. It’s important for the secondary to tighten things up in practice this week with Derek Dooley and Drew Lock coming to town next Saturday.
